Camino Del Rio is centrally located, with numerous attractions within thirty miles.
Parks and Reserves:
Guanacaste National Park
This 50-acre tropical forest managed by the Belize Audubon Society offers a swimming deck, sheltered picnic areas, bird-watching deck and over two miles of maintained trails. It is also home to the guanacaste or tubroos - a fast growing species and one of the largest trees found in Central America.
Belize Zoo
The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center was started in 1983, as an effort to provide a home for a collection of wild animals that had been used in making documentary films about tropical forests. Nestled on 29 acres of tropical savanna, the zoo exhibits over 125 animals all native to Belize.
Monkey Bay National Park and Private Reserve
This park and private reserve is 1070 acres of forest, wetlands and lagoons running along the Western Highway, just west of the Belize Zoo. Camping is allowed and the bird-watching is fantastic.
Five Blues Lake
Known as Five Blues Lake because of the varying water depths around the lake and different underwater limestone rock formations, the color of this lake constantly, and beautifully, shifts.

River floats are in our backyard along the beautiful Caves Branch River, weaving through light class I rapids and various caves along the way.

Tropical rainforests are gifts to the world, including fruits, vegetables and spices and over half of the worlds insects and animals. The rainforest trails in Belize provide an exploration of wet and dry caves that are cathedral-like, adorned with great stalactites, stalagmites and beautiful crystalline formations.
Cedar Cabins Butterfly Farm
Cedar Cabins Butterfly Farm consists of a 2,000 square feet enclosed 'flying area' or Butterfly House, in addition to a caterpillar feeding area, a plant nursery, and a caterpillar food plant grow-out area.
Mayan Ruins:
Cahal Pech
Overlooking San Ignacio, Cahal Pech is a mid-sized complex settled around 1000 BC and abandoned by 800 AD. The site consists of seven plazas and over 30 structures including temples, residential buildings, ball courts, an altar and a sweathouse, all situated on a compact 2 acres.
Xunantunich
The Mayan ruins site of Xunantunich, (or Maiden of the Rock), is located in northwestern Belize, in the Cayo District near the border with Guatemala, across the river from the village of San Jose Succotz. This major ceremonial center was built upon a natural limestone ridge, providing a panoramic view of the Cayo District. The largest pyramid, El Castillo, rises to a height of 130 feet above the main plaza and a total of 250 feet above the river valley below. The main temple is visible from all parts of the valley.
